THE KNOT BEST OF WEDDINGS PICK
What a weekend! Just as I am getting ready for my own wedding, I received in the mail the GREAT NEWS that Visual Concepts was The Knot Best of Weddings 2008/2009 Pick! What a fabulous surprise and honor! THANK YOU to all of you who nominated us! However, I cannot accept this award without giving so much credit to Jamie Roberts, my partner who shifted our focus to a documentary style type of wedding photography. As mentioned above, I married Dr. B Michael Hodge on the Caberet II, Watermark Cruises this past Saturday, June 20th, which would have been my mother's 96th birthday! The day started out very cloudy and lots of rain. It continued throughout the morning but by 3 p.m. the sun burst through the clouds setting forth the mood for the rest of the day! Michael's family from Virginia arrived and Jamie took photos of all of us on our front porch! Then, it was off to Annapolis in a limo from Absolute Limousines (the best!!!!). We met our guests at City Dock, better known as Ego Alley, and boarded the Caberet II, Watermark Cruises. We docked by Eastport and gathered everyone on the first floor of the boat where we said our vows and Captain Ron married us! Michael welcomed everyone and our children did their toasts in their own way...Rory was Mr. GQ and said very lovely and kind words about Michael, Shaun was..well Shaun and welcomed Michael into our family and his life. Mike, Jr. read a beautiful poem he wrote about us and Stelsie sang a wonderful love song! It was all about two families joining as one! We were very fortunate that Michael's parents were with us, as well as his siblings and niece and nephew!
Tapenade catered our event and Flower Follies did the most amazing job with the bouquets and table arrangement! We danced under the stars, caught up with old friends, made new friends and started our life as a couple who feel very rich indeed to be so blessed with an amazing family and many close friends.

CHECK PRESENTATION TO AAMC NICU
Yesterday I had the pleasure of presenting a check for $25,000 to Carol Lacher, Clinical Director of NICU and Pediatrics. On behalf of Carol and Foundation, AAMC thanks you enormously for your donation. I sat down with Carol, who took a few moments out of her busy schedule, to relay to her your stories about NICU and how grateful you are for having this state-of-art unit available for preemies. Carol wants you to know that this money is earmarked for the following:
NICU CRASH CARTS - These carts contain essential airway management equipment and special meds to help raise vitals. These will be used in the entire women's and children's departments.
Two Educational Conferences for NICU nursing staff. All the local NICU staff gather together for this vital conference to help lower the morbity and mortality rate in our community. The goal is to improve the care of the premature infant.
So, as you can see, your money is being put to good use and you are making a difference in the life of a preemie. THANK YOU for participating and being a part of this wonderful community!
BABY ANGELS GIVING BACK TO NICU ANGELS
Just got back from delivering the check for $25,000 made out to AAMC NICU!! Carol Lacher and I cried and laughed with joy at the sheer accomplishment of raising so much money in such a short time. I reiterated to her that this is not about me, not about Visual Concepts but about giving back, giving to a NICU that is second to none! I told her your stories and how you traveled far and near to say "thank you" for all that NICU has done. I told her how I had to add more columns to my excel sheet because some of you reached near and far and asked family and friends to give and give they did! Every day when I opened my e-mail, there were more charges and then more and more! Wow!! Carol and her staff are overjoyed, overwhelmed and thank you sincerely from the bottom of their hearts! I once heard someone say that when God put angels on earth, he made NICU nurses. These are the true angels who work so hard and so diligently every hour of every day. They are the true heroes! I also was told that if you want to be happy, give! Give freely and without reservation. Give tirelessly. Give without an agenda. And, you shall receive. Well, your giving has made the most enormous difference to a NICU baby and to a NICU baby that isn't even born yet! Know that when you are down, or sad or have a yucky day, your giving made a difference and someone, somewhere is benefitting because of you. Carol, her staff and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it all happen! When I took on this fundraiser, I did not know where it was going to go or how it was going to happen, but I did know this...it would be a success! I am from Canada (now an American) and in Canada we recognize Americans for their giving and even giving without question. Well, I can attest to that! As you can see, this e-mail is from the heart as I am so overjoyed by being able to give this money to AAMC NICU on your behalf.
I am waiting for the photo of the check presentation and will post along with Carol's words......stay tuned......

Hi Everyone,
There has been a tremendous amount of activity over the last 48 hours and I am happy to report that we raised thousands of dollars for AAMC NICU. Thank you for your generosity! We will be spending most of this week tallying the amounts as the race is extremely close! We originally projected announcing the winners later this week, but due to the volume of activity, we need to enter the amounts and then verify every dollar raised by every angel and hope to post the winners a week from today!
Also, please note that the voting ended at midnight and all charges that come through will be counted as donations but cannot count towards angel votes so as to be fair to everyone!
