OCTOBER NEWS

We hope this blog finds you well! I am sure your September was crazy busy with school, PTA, carpooling and the like! We, here at our Davidsonville farmhouse, have been very busy with lots of family portrait sessions as well as high school seniors and newborns! Michael has been busy with making sure the gardens are in top shape, the waterfall/pond is working and that the gardens are at their finest! Now, however, with Fall making its entrance, we are shaping up for Fall decor; lots of mums, pumpkins, bales of straw to decorate our outdoor studio with family portrait sessions!
We hope you enjoy reading the October Newsletter and if you want to receive yours each month, go to the end of the letter to OPT IN. It is such a great way to see what's happening here and what savings we can pass on to you!

Want to be a part of giving back to AAMC NICU? Here is an easy way to do so!! Each year, Visual Concepts Photography puts a call out to all babies, ages 0 - 36 months to participate in our L'il Angel Calendar, net proceeds to benefit AAMC NICU and the new PEDS Dept! No experience necessary...only lots of smiles and giggles!!! I am frequently asked if only NICU babies can participate and the answer is all babies 0 - 36 months can apply!!! The call for baby models starts in January of each new year, but we are accepting applications all year long! If you would like to join our growing family, please e mail me and I will put your name on the list.
So, how does this work? How do we raise funds? We normally photograph 100 babies between February-April and we post our favorite image on our website (NO PERSONAL INFORMATION IS GIVEN OUT AT ANY TIME!) Only 13 babies will be featured in the calendar. To be considered for the calendar, everyone has to vote! Each vote is $1 and the one with the most votes secures the cover, the next one secures January until we reach December!
We started this program 4 years ago and in 4 short years, we raised $60,000!!! With your help, we can continue to raise funds for the tinest, most vulnerable patient at AAMC and we encourage you and your friends to participate! Please call Linda at 410 626 7474 for more information!

It was with delight that I received the call that my Once Upon A Lifetime baby was coming back for her portrait, along with her big sister! She is actually Ms. January in this year's Little Angel Calendar....you can't miss those big baby blues!! We did an early morning session in our gardens and in spite of the high humidity and heat we managed to get a few wonderful images that are timeless!!!

Do you ever wonder what a photo really means to someone? Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the Z family; beautiful parents and 3 beautiful children; the kind of family you want to have as neighbors and friends!
When they came in to pick up their order, Dad was overwhelmed with gratitude and tears formed in his eyes. You see, Dad has been called, yet again, to Iraq and with him went some of these photos which are no doubt his most treasured possessions. As we go about our daily business, we don't often think about the men and women who serve our country. So, I ask in honor of them, please take a moment to thank them for serving and say a prayer that they all have a safe journey back home to their familes. And let us not forget the families at home who go about their daily tasks and keep the homefront running smoothly and the light burning brightly! They too are to be acknowledged for their strength and tenacity!
So, to keep the girls entertained while Dad is serving, I had the opportunity to photograph them in our gardens and here are some sneak peaks for Dad to see. You know that he will fall in love all over again..Stay safe and see you back in the USA really soon!!!! Thank you for your service!!!

Clare and John made their debut 4 months ago wheN we photographed them as newbies (they are in our Albums on Facebook!) They are participating in our Once Upon A Lifetime Program, where we photograph babies at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and one year! Here are some images from their recent session, including Mary Kate, their wonderful big sister who really is looking over them! How lucky they are to have a wonderful big sister and how lucky she is to have two beautiful siblings! I am really looking forward to the six month session...stay tuned!

As mentioned earlier, Michael participated in the Spring Muddy Creek Art Guild Show and it was announced yesterday that a panel of professional judges picked Michael's "Young Lily" as BEST IN SHOW in the Photography category! For those of you who know me, you know I love anything yellow so that image was already a winner by me! (And isn't that what counts??)
